Do you speak English?

Decenarios are famous nowadays because of Sara Carbonero, in fact they are a fashion item in Spain now – everybody wants to have them! But the truth is that decenarios have been accesories for a long time.

El decenario was thought as a short rosary to take with you (it would be more comfortable to wear than the rosary itself), and that would explain the ten knots and the cross it has. Before Christians, South American native tribes had them and there is a similar collar in Indian culture; it is called japa mala, it has 108 beads and it was used for keeping count while praying.

Here in Spain, decenarios are a common baby shower, communion and wedding gift; now Sara have brought them out as a casual accesory too, so people can wear them everyday, anytime and anywhere!

We are an online shop called Menina y Dulcinea, and besides Spain and its increasing craze for decenarios, we sell them worldwide. You can ask for more info at meninaydulcinea@gmail.com.

Don't forget to visit our Facebook site. Become a fan! We are also opening our Etsy site soon.
